Hello, my name is Attorney Jason Rivera. I'm an attorney based in New York, and a lot of questions I get is, when is a good time to have an attorney when you're buying your first property? The answer is, from the very beginning. New York is an attorney-driven real estate market, and pretty much once you get a offer, and you accept the offer, or if you offer and it gets accepted, that is when the brokers and attorneys need to work together. So our job as attorneys is to negotiate any different contingencies, anything wrong with the property, make sure we inspect the property, and protect not only the buyer, but if you're the seller, protect you as well, to make sure you get the most bang for your buck. Especially for first-time buyers in New York, having an attorney gives you leverage, clarity, protection, and peace of mind. Bottom line, having a lawyer isn't an option, but it's an essential part of the process.
